15 Questions You might have about the Bible and Christianity

I’ve always had questions about my Christian faith over the years, but I just accepted what was being taught…until a few years ago.

Then I really began to search for some answers. That lead me into other questions I didn’t even know. They were there, but just under the surface.

Here are some of the questions:

Maybe you have some of the same ones…So let’s get started.

1. The first one was in Genesis where the word “we” was used when God talked about “himself.”

How many Gods where there then?

It was always explained as the Trinity was talking, but that does not set well with me. The Trinity means 3 in 1, so why use the plural when it’s really One.

It just leaves an uncomfortable feeling in me.

There are lots of other explanations…and we might get into them, but they come from outside the Bible and Christianity…so let’s leave that one alone for awhile.

2.  Why where these Gods so afraid of our potential that they destroyed the Tower of Babel?

They said we could become like them…something to remember.

It just doesn’t seem like a “God” to me.

3. Then we get into all the rules about cleaning your body and house. It only entailed washing and then having the priest inspect it.

So didn’t they have some other kinds of treatments? Like herbs or prayer?

Probably…but could it have been a “priest power” thing? Just Asking???

They had the power to kick you of the city and destroy your house if you were unclean!

4. I always wondered about the statement, It was spring, the time Kings went out to war.” Does that mean God wants us to be in war?

Then it says King David stayed at home from war and because of that he got into trouble too. That’s the Bathsheba story. He committed adultery and then tried to cover it up by murdering a man. He lost his son as a result. This is because he didn’t go to war??? Hmmm…

5. This is the one the really gets me questioning. When the Israelites came back from Egypt, they were commanded to “kill every man, woman and child, every animal and every living thing, so not to “contaminate” the Jewish bloodline! This has implications throughout history. Who would command that? It doesn’t matter for what reason!

6. Then it says that we should have no other gods before him. What other gods? I thought there was only one. Baal was “defeated” by Elijah at an altar. So Baal was another god? Hmmm…are we talking about gods…or GOD here? Some say that money, or food, or drugs can be your god. We are equating bad habits with Creator of the Universe!!!??? They can supplant the “real” God!!! I don’t get it.

7. Then there is the commandment Thou shalt not murder! But, spring was the time kings went out to war. Isn’t that murder, especially if you were the aggressor. I think there is a contradiction here.

8. Then the stories of the kings. When they followed God they flourished, but when they didn’t God Punished Them. So it’s God sending bad things on us when the king was bad? Just doesn’t sound like a god of Love! Kinda sounds like God made in our image instead of the reverse.

9. What was Job all about?  God and the accuser talked. Who is the accuser, and how does he get to talk to God? He’s a very bad person I hear. Wish I could get to talk to God, as I gotta be better than the accuser. And then God let’s him take everything away from Job, even though he was an upright man. Doesn’t sound fair. Ya, I know that happens here on Earth, but does it originate in Heaven? I shutter to think even about that. I know it could be taken as an illustrative story, but it never said that’s what it is was. It was told like it really happened. And how long did they talk about why Job was taken down….pages and pages. It’s a major event as far as Bible stories go. But I don’t get it.

10. Did you know there is no mention of the Jews in Egypt, including Moses or Joseph or about the 3 million people that left, or the parting of the waters, or evidence of 40 years in the desert. There is no mountain in the Sinai, but there could be one in Saudi Arabia, but the Israelites would have had to walked 45 miles a day to stick to the timeline described. They had to cross the Gulf of Aqaba, Not the Red Sea to get there. There is some unconfirmed evidence of some chariots remains there, but the Gulf is over a 1000 meters deep at that point! So it would be a major effort to gather it. It must have been a really great miracle to stop a thousand meters of water over 5 km wide for the Jews to cross. Also  Solomon’s temple has not been discovered, even though Jerusalem is the most excavated and researched area in the world!!! Actually Israel did not have Any large cities when all this happened…around 1000 to 1200 BC.  200 to 300 years later there were cities, but no evidence of kings or big empires. Nothing that was said in the Bible about David, Solomon, Abraham, or Moses can be found. They can’t even find evidence of the Jews back then. There is one carving  of a king’s name in Northern Israel (Samaria) that also has a one sentence reference in the Bible. That is hardly evidence. Shouldn’t the greatest empire of the time be written about. Where is the evidence of Solomon’s riches and kingdom?

There are no records in Babylon either. There are a lot of records from that time, so if the Israelites were “big”, it should have been recorded somewhere. The closest they can come is Ezra writing the “history” of the Jewish people when they returned from Babylon. The Bible says he was a writer and historian, but where did he get his information from?

I was amazed to hear this…the general consensus is that the Patriarchs  didn’t exist. I still find this hard to believe. This is the bedrock of our faith…and it’s a myth…a lie!!!????

Now I am getting angry. We have been told a “story,” a lie, for thousands of years. What is going on?

11. Anyway, let’s move on. What is a wheel within a wheel in Ezekiel, and how did Elijah, and others get caught up into heaven. Pretty strange. I think this is something we should be studying and emulating…

12. In the New Testament Jesus was an entirely different person than what Paul talked about. He never said he was the “Savior of the world.” In fact he didn’t allow anyone to bow down to him. He referred to himself as the “Son of Man,” and only once did he say he was the “Son of God.” What does “Son of Man” mean. I find no explanation. He did talk about his Father in Heaven, but he never called him God.

What did he mean when he said, “I am the way the truth and the light. No one comes to the Father, but through me?” He’s not here anymore, so how can we go through him? You could take that symbolically, but He said he was going back to the Father, and sending the Holy Spirit, which was going to “reveal” all things! How many Christians have that focus on what Jesus said…I was always told to worship Jesus, something he said not to do!!!

13. Paul said Jesus came to do away with the Law in Romans, but Jesus never said that. He did say that he came to reveal a new law…the law of Love (hence my focus on Knowing that You are Loved, therefore You Can Love Yourself, and Find Your Dream.) Jesus did miracles, taught Love and told the Jewish religious rulers they were evil. He said we could be healed by our own faith, but when we didn’t have much faith he could not do many miracles. He said strange things like, Is it better to heal on the Sabbath or to forgive sin? I ask, how did he forgive sin? Doesn’t say…. I think that’s critical, how did he forgive sin? To me it’s central to Christianity???

He also said “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” What…God doesn’t condemn us? Wow! And we can live perfectly. Well he said, “Be ye perfect even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.” We are supposed be like the Father…perfect!!!???

I think we got it wrong someplace. Paul says we were born in sin, then Jesus saved us from sin, and now we can be perfect. So we were never perfect before, and if so, how can we get there? Jesus said these things when he was alive, BEFORE he died on the cross and rose from the dead and saved us! Something is wrong!!!

14. What is this thing about Communion? Do this in remembrance of me. Drink my blood and eat my flesh? A commemoration, but really kinda gross, isn’t it. And why would we do that? What good does it do, but to remember him maybe as a symbol??? I don’t know, but maybe as an example to be followed.

15. The last thing…for now…I think I will be writing about this more…is the complete lack of difference in Christian character in the world. There is very little difference in Christian and non-Christian divorce, crime and many other statistics.

What???

I am astounded the lack of evidence for many of the Old Testament stories, and evidence for Jesus actually being a historical figure (Only 1 historian says anything about him. One would think that a man who changed the world would have corroborating sources outside the Bible.)

Also the removal and total suppression of books from the Bible in 300 AD that the leaders did not like. What are we missing?

I wouldn’t mind or question that decision, but with all the other things listed above, I have grave concerns!

I have lived my life as a Christian, and now it is upended, in doubt and basically destroyed.

So what does one do now? I have been researching and studying for more than 5 years. It’s called going “down the rabbit hole!”  It’s lead to many strange and wonderful places…and I will be writing about them in future blogs!

Stay tuned!

Accessing the Right Brain!

I watched…maybe re-watched..a Ted Talk from Jill Bolte Taylor where she relates her brain stroke experience.

She talks about her 2 States of Mind. One was telling her something was wrong and then that she was having a stroke, and needed help.

The other showed her connectedness to “All That Is.”  She could not feel the boundaries of her body. She just felt intense Joy and Love. But she could not function in this “density.” She could not dial her phone, or understand language, but she was able to communicate enough to get to the hospital. When she woke up, the stimuli of her senses overloaded her brain, which resulted in intense pain.

She then described one state as being the “Left Brain,” which helped her in dialing the phone, and the Right Brain, which gave her the expansive realization of her “Higher Self.”

That really affected me, because my inspiration of “You Are Loved, therefore You Can Love Yourself and Find Your Dream” is coming from My Right Brain.

So the only way to You can realize these concepts is if you can move to your Right Brain!!!

Unfortunately, she didn’t talk about how one can do that, and I don’t want You to have a stroke!!!!, so my techniques help you do it…without injuring Yourself….LOL!

First, the Left Brain is very strong. You can tell by the “chatter” if  you watch your thoughts. Watching is a Right Brain function.

Repeating “I am Loved” and “I Love Myself” is a way of raising the Right Brain dominance in Your Life. Love comes from the Infinite, which is realized in the Right Brain…the no body-borders state.

All intuition, ideas and Your Dream reside in the Right Brain, so learning how to raise it’s influence is crucial to your Happiness, Peace and Your Dream!

On Perfectness

I got some feedback on being perfect from a previous post and a YouTube video. It really made me “think.” Actually inspiration came to me…not really thinking. And I really thank those who responded, as I grew personally from the discussion.

The feedback said that they know they are not perfect. And even if one could be, what would come after that?

Actually I sort of agree with them…in my mind…but through inspiration it is hard to hold that idea. It is just the programming that we get in this life. We are told that we are “naughty” when we are young…and sinful when we get older. I can feel the shame and guilt from it.

Then when this revelation came, with all the supporting Scriptures…and many other sources from my research, I had to change my attitude.

Scriptures say to be Perfect even as Jesus is….you will do more than these things…talking about the miracles he is doing.

Also He said go and sin no more…many times…it is the command to be perfect.

The inspiration said that if there is even a seed of doubt, you will not achieve anything. It’s got to do with faith…believing without a doubt

It says in the Bible that if we accept Christ…we become righteous…God sees us as righteous and we can then enter into His presence…

Seems like we can become Perfect!!! Pretty Deep…Hard to understand…because we’ve all been told the opposite all our lives.

And if we are not perfect, then what are we…evil…????

We are made in His image therefore perfect.

The Kingdom of Heaven is within…how can that be if are imperfect.

Jesus removes our sin!!!

We have to see ourselves as perfect as God does.

Those are just some of the Scriptures, but my research found many other places and teachings that say…or at least imply…our perfectness.

Such as:

The Universe is one…we are one…

Creation is perfect…as we are.

In the parable of the man and the white horse… a series of circumstances occur such as keeping a very valuable horse, then losing it…which is a “bad” thing, but it comes back with 10 other horses…which is a “good” thing. Then another bad thing happens then a good thing. The idea is to quit making judgments about our life. We really don’t know ultimately what “sin” is.

So is being imperfect evil?…it is taught that way. There is no gray area…evil or perfect. But we must believe the ultimate result is perfectness or we have chaos!!!

So it seems like when we look at our lives there is no way we can be perfect..and even if we are, what do we do then, like what’s next, but when the Perfect One tells us to be perfect and we can…maybe we should listen!

How Grieving helps to reevaluate life…which moved me into the Metaphysical.

All these thoughts on grieving have helped me to reevaluate my life. It has given me a Purpose…to pass on my family traditions and values. It has also brought me think about the metaphysical and “God.”

I specifically have been thinking about how existence could have begun.

I really like the theory that in the beginning there was just “One.” There was no time or space, because everything was One…like all together…at the same time.

Then that One wanted to realize itself, so it created “Two,” which created the Universe…and here we are. Simple right…well getting to Two was, but after that…will take more analysis.

It is said that if you try to randomly solve a Rubik’s cute, it will take billions of years, but if you have only one feedback after every try…whether it was right or wrong…a 1 or a 0…it will only take hours.

So that is how the Universe went from Two to today. There was feedback…meaning the every action had a reaction…and someone kept track. We can call that Source, or God…what it has been traditionally called.

Some call the One as nothing…like zero…i.e. atheists and some scientists, but that does not make sense logically, or mathematically, or have any meaning in physics…at least to me.

Maybe some scientist can explain it, but it would have to make a lot of sense, and not be too complicated. Mathematics…the language of science…has problems with zero. It can’t be manipulated. So to start with zero creates a problem. Zero multiplied or divided by anything is undefined. So to divide nothing into something…like 2/0 doesn’t make sense.

So I think we have decided that it has to be One. That’s what all the religions and mystery schools have told us too. Also that is a confluence between Science and Faith.

To know oneself is a basic teaching of metaphysics. It’s also called self-awareness…I call it the God Quality in each of us. We can think about ourselves…referring to the past and the future. We understand there is something bigger that us. We can judge our actions by the result they created. That is the same way God operates…always seeing the result…in an ultimate way.

Now I have a question about the feedback of the result of each move of the Rubik’s Cube. I said that each move will have a 1 or 0 feedback…right or wrong. Well, who knows what is right or wrong, unless you know the outcome… the completed Rubik’s Cube. So one must have solved it at least once to know if each move is moving towards the goal.

Hmmm. Then I thought about God. How does He know what is right or wrong unless He has been through all of Existence already? So he started as One…became self-aware by becoming Two…and then what?

It says in the Bible, that He knows the end from the beginning. That must be why He is God. That is way over my head!

To know right and wrong…ultimately…means you know the outcome. Wow! That is True Self-Awareness!

So how does this work for Us? In the same way we must realize…visualize… an outcome, and then we can judge our performance against reaching that Goal. That is what is called How to Find Our Dream!

First we must access that God Part of us that knows our Outcome…our Dream…and then start taking steps to create it.

Ahhh…another thing…create it. What does that mean?

It is the result of self-awareness and free will. They change our decisions and actions based on feedback and our Dream! And that creates a new reality!

So what is Reality anyway? It follows that it is the sum total of our results. As is said, change our actions, which create results, which changes how we perceive and interact with the feedback. That’s why a positive outlook is the best way to view the results, because it allows for seeing the possibilities in Finding Our Dream.

And it always starts with the first thing we do. It’s called the Next Right Thing. We really don’t know if it’s right until we do it, and the feedback gives us the answer.

So if the result took us away from our Dream…some would call it failure…we know we must make a change. It doesn’t mean we abandon our Dream. We change how we react, or our strategy, and do the Next Right Thing. It might be doing the same thing, with modifications, over and over, until we are shown another Next Thing.

So failure, or the “wrong” result, isn’t really a big thing. It’s just showing us how and where we need to change.

That should help overcome fear…what other people say…and procrastination.

Just as in solving the Rubik’s cube, the awareness of ourselves creates a path that we can follow through feedback.

Feedback from other people is crucial, as we can sometimes get too caught up in our own reality, and then cannot see the “obvious.”

That’s where I come in. Using my tips, techniques, strategies and intuition developed over 40 years of business, coaching and consulting, I can help you find Your Next Right Thing and show you How to Find Your Dream.

Review of My Life…2011

2011

The blog was called “God Things” back then, so I wrote a lot about God from a Christian perspective.

The first post was about being recompensed. That all evil must be paid for…and we all know it, because we beat ourselves up for our own evil. We create our own hell, thru our own guilt and shame. Then there is God who saves us from it, which is the most important thing.

Side note: the concept of an ultimate evil or hell is hard to reconcile with the Christian idea of “God.” God is all knowing, everywhere, everything and all powerful. So where is there a place for “no God,” or hell, an interesting puzzle? The idea that God is Ultimate is, by definition, the only Ultimate there is…there can’t be 2 of them…heaven and hell. Otherwise there are 2 Ultimates, and that’s a problem. Anyway we will get into that later. See, I graduated.

Then I wrote about a trying to educate a “fool,” who doesn’t listen. I wonder how many times I haven’t listened…and that makes me a fool! How about you? Let’s get real here!

Next I wrote about a missionary having a crisis of faith in the face of the devastation in Haiti. He had a frank conversation with God, and how he needed to keep his faith. I then questioned how our faith is. Do we blame Him when times are bad…or run to Him to save us… and, otherwise ignore Him. Or do we realize the Faith is rewarded, and, really, there is no other one to turn to… I like that!

Then I talked about how St Paul called the Galatians poor, silly, thoughtless, unreflecting and senseless. Whoa, pretty heavy… Am I, are you the same… with our 1 hour of church, 5 minutes of devotions, and then…what. I said God has many more deeper things for us…actually miracles… to do. I like that too.

Next one was about becoming free of our addiction and constant temptations…that we give in to… and realizing that we are Sons and Daughters of the Most High…and the way to Freedom is having an intimate relationship with Him.

Then I wrote about not having a past…as relating to our sins. God doesn’t remember them, so why should we. We should the person with “no past.”

The next one was a God Thing. He has a purpose for us. I wondered what that might be for me. I then said that all that needs to happen is to “rest in Him,” and that doesn’t seem like a lot of work. I then prayed the prayer of Peace. I feel better!!

Next was how do we get “There?” What, or where is “there” anyway. We all have an idea. Living a good life might be a good goal…but who has ever done that? Then there the thing about being on your path. Well that doesn’t work for psychopaths very well. We are too apt to become deceived…with the best of intentions. Then I said God has the right path and to follow Him will get us there. Brings up a lot of things that we can get into. Such as: how do we know the right path…and if we are getting it from God…and does any creed of religion know the right path…for us? We’ll talk about that.

Next was Where is our Place? Where do we Fit In? Doesn’t it say that we are all part of One Body and we all “fit.” So we are part of The Plan, so we can have confidence and be Free, knowing the Creator is perfect and has a perfect place for us. That’s comforting, and also compelling and exciting!! So we all should get to know the Creator…intimately…overcoming the “I’m such a worm” mentality.

The Gospel of Mark…in the Bible…chronicles many miracles. They have caused much controversy, but they are there. The glaring absence of them in the “Church” is disturbing. Wonder what it would take to get a taste of that again. Again, intimacy and receiving love would make a very great impact.

Another look at fear!

This is by Paul Rosenberg from Casey Research. It is a very well done treatise on fear, and how we have changed thru the media and and other things. It also gives good solutions, so  read all the through, and make some changes…for the good!

The Way of the 21st Century: Going Nowhere While Very, Very Frightened

We’re 14 years into a new century, which is typically how long it takes for a century’s unique characteristics to show up. The 20th century, for example, looked a lot like the 19th until 1914; from there on it looked a lot different. So I think this is a good time to take a look at our new century and see how it’s shaping up.

I see two particular things that are defining the mainline culture just now. Let’s go with the easy and obvious one first:

The 24-Hour Fear Cycle

Nothing makes humans easier to manipulate than fear. Get a group of Homo sapiens afraid of something and most of them will run wherever you want them to. Unfortunately, all the manipulators of our time know this and are maximizing their use of it.

On top of that, we have a 24-hour news cycle, and nothing rivets eyeballs to screens like fear. Good news, as we all know, doesn’t sell papers.

There have always been bad things happening on Earth. Take the truly horrifying stories that pop up here and there of women killing their own children. Sadly, these have always been with us, but they weren’t blasted on five or ten news channels 24/7. Likewise, horrifying stories from the Middle East or in Africa; these are very definitely nothing new. What’s new is using these stories as tools… tools to make Homo sapiens run to where you want them.

Here’s the reality:

Violent crime is decreasing, and significantly.

Deaths in fires are dropping:

Disaster losses are falling too:

I could go on, but you get the point. Lots of things are getting better in real life, but no one thinks so because everything’s getting worse on TV. Fear works.

One final example: Here’s a list of events from a year that generally inspires no fear in us—1970:

March 6 A bomb being assembled by terrorists explodes, killing three.
April 8 47 children are killed by (peacetime) bombs from a neighboring country.
May 4 Soldiers kill four American college students.
May 8 A huge mob of construction workers in New York attacks protestors.
May 14 Police fire on a crowd at a college, killing two and injuring 12.
June 9 A bomb explodes at New York police headquarters.
July 12 Two canisters of tear gas are thrown into the British House of Commons.
Aug. 7 Terrorists take a judge hostage in California, then kill him.
Sept. 1 An assassination attempt on the King of Jordan.
Sept. 6 Terrorists hijack four airplanes on flights to New York.
Oct. 5 Terrorists kidnap a British diplomat.
Oct. 10 Terrorists kidnap a Canadian Minister. He is found dead a week later.
Nov. 25 Terrorists seize the headquarters of Japan’s defense forces.
Nov. 27 An assassination attempt on the Pope.
Dec. 3 A major government caves and releases five terrorists.
Dec. 4 Spain declares martial law.
Dec. 7 A Swiss ambassador is kidnapped.
Dec. 13 Martial law is declared in Poland.

These events were accepted in 1970. People thought they were sad, but they didn’t panic over them. I don’t think that would be true in this 21st century. We are living in a fear soup, which is being stirred by the overlords of the age. And it’s working for them.

Going Nowhere

There’s a great line in the Bible that says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” And that is exactly what we’re being treated to from the mainstream culture right now. This is a second defining characteristic of our new century.

How many of us can answer this question in any positive way?:

Where is Western civilization going?

In this 21st century, we have no vision, no goal, no direction. And that’s a very bad thing.

Lots of modern people want to live healthier and longer, but to what end? So they can eat more fancy food? So they can have sex a few more times? To what great future does that lead?

Millions of 21st-century people want to get rich, but what do they do with their big pile of money? Is it just to look at? To salve their insecurities? To prove their superiority?

Money is a fine tool, a good thing to have, but anyone who thinks it’s going to make them into some kind of superior person has a big surprise coming. The one thing they may get from it is status, but only in the eyes of shallow people.

At one time, the men and women of the West did have goals. At one time, they strove to attain righteousness, to love their neighbors, and to eliminate slavery. (And yes, I’m talking about the early Middle Ages.) Was this universal and perfect? Of course not, but it was quite real and quite effective, no matter what pop history says.

Even during my youth, we had a vision: We were sending men to the moon, then outward from there. However poorly the effort was handled, it was a real goal, and one that positively affected millions of us.

Now there are no goals, no striving, no searching, no becoming. Instead, we have distractions, fears, and stasis.

Humans need goals, and we as a civilization currently have none.

The Current Necessity

So what do we do about this?

The common reflex is to “reform the system,” but I think that’s a tragic mistake. There’s a line from Emerson that goes like this:

We are always getting ready to live, but never living.

And that’s precisely what the usual path will get you. Always “gonna live soon” but never actually living.

“Things will change as soon as we get X out of office.” “They’ll change as soon as we get Y into office.” “As soon as we change the Supreme Court!”

You can chase these rainbows for decades, but it ends up making no real difference. One day you’ll wake up and realize that you’re old and nearing the finish line… and that the system still sucks.

So, I recommend that you dump all of that and get busy changing the world directly. Forget the visionless 21st-century culture and start creating your own vision. Read, learn, choose! And get busy doing.

Without a vision, we stagnate, we walk in circles… we perish.

Don’t live in that trap.

The Important vs The Urgent.

This one is about the Important and the Urgent!

Below is what has happened in our lives over the last few weeks. It really shows the difference between the Important and the Urgent.

The Urgent is what constantly is in front of us, that, supposedly has to be done…but does it really. It’s stuff like reading my email, reading posts on FaceBook, watching TV, or fixing our car….all the stuff that seems necessary, and it might be, but keeps us from doing what we really know we should be doing…the Important…like researching and starting that business, exercising, writing your story, or learning something new every day! My Important is to write every day about what I have learned about Healing and God, and how to develop that into a business online, so I can help people heal. It’s sharing what I have with all Creation.

My mentor said today that we always have time to eat and sleep. When we view the Important as that crucial, we will have the time.

So first the Urgent…like car problems, it finally gave out. It went from bearings and brakes, to front suspension, the A/C, a gas line break, which almost started the car on fire, and finally, it starting only when it wanted to!! You thing maybe it was time!! It took 3 weeks of looking at cars to finally decide to buy a new one…a Kia Sportage, something that should last 5 or 6 years. The was urgent and important.

Getting money transferred to buy it has been an experience. One has to have all the account numbers right, and knowing which ones are right is not that easy. So the transfer was delayed, while we try to figure it out. I think we have it now, but have been without a car for over a week. That’s been interesting. We had to depend on friend or relatives and taxis.

Also Ryne and Natasha (my children) came to visit, and attend our wedding reception. And there’s always the mundane things like fixing the house.

This week we went to Deanie’s sister’s home for lunch and a swim in her pool…great fun, but no writing happened. Yesterday we decorated a Christmas tree and made a Christmas scene. It all takes time, and no writing happened again. The Important seems to get pushed back.

The Important…So last night I wrote some in a book that I am writing a chapter in. It’s about half done. The problem is what to write. I consider myself one who tries to say what I need to in as few words as possible (well maybe not, as you can see from this blog entry, ha ha.) So Deanie and I talked about it last night. She stayed up until 230 am and wrote. And this morning, after going for a nice long walk, I sat down and started writing. Now that’s getting to the Important!!!

So I am trying to tell you what life is like “down here.” What I wrote about above has been negative, but, for a reason. Life treats us as we treat it. If we just drift along, Life’s current will drag us down until we feel depressed and worthless. It takes changing our attitude and the way we look at things. One has to focus on one’s calling.

Now for the good part!! I have lost 15 lbs since I have moved here (Deanie says I am too thin!!) I have noticed that the stress here is almost non-existent. The pace here is slower, and it can be frustrating at times, but I am happier and much more content. I have been able to mediate, pray and listen to my inner self. And, most of all, Deanie and I are wonderfully in love. We look into each other’s eyes and just go deep into each other. What a feeling! What a life!

Now that’s Important!!!

Treatise on Control

This is for all of us “Control Freaks.” >)

What does it really mean to be in control. Most people think it’s to satisfy every desire…to not have anyone “telling them what to do.”

But it comes down to “who do you listen to.” I think we all are controlled by something….our income, our family, our upbringing and mostly our mind. It’s the way we think that controls us mostly. So are we really in control of anything?

Yes we are! We created the circumstances we are in. We did. Not anyone else. Again, taking full responsibility. The good thing about this is that we can create the life we want by TAKING CONTROL OF OUR MIND.  You know that little voice (yeah, right, little) that keeps talking to us all the time. That’s the one us control freaks need to master, and that could occupy us for quite a while.

So instead of trying to control our outer environment, how about controlling the inner one. Stop the chatter, stop the going over and over the past, and stop the fantasy of the future.

Start by admitting that you/I have problems that we can’t solve, so we need to be completely honest about them. State them..truthfully, and say I can’t control my guilt, my shame, my anger and the issues those things bring up….like drinking too much, waiting for the weekend, because we hate our job, or our spouse who is always telling us to do stuff, or exposing our faults. Admit them, and then they will respect you for it….and ask for help from them, from God of the Universe which resides in us.

Once we start being honest, we can begin to deal with issue as it manifests. As we let each one go….forgive ourselves, everyone involved and GOD…we can heal. It’s like peeling and onion…never a pleasant job….and it’s layer by layer. The more layers that come off, the more we SEE ourselves, and our power returns. That’s being the best control freak there is!!

Treatise on “Free Will”

Do we really have “Free Will?” Well, sort of, but only if we exercise it…and it’s not free. It takes a lot of effort and exercise.

If we think free will is doing “whatever I want,” we are right, but what do we really want? Do we want the money, the toys, the prestige? Does that bring us happiness? Not really…we want the happiness that true free will creates.  We limit our free will by thinking that the spiff, the bling, is what we want.

Free will comes from control…self control. Knowing what we want and controlling ourselves to get there, is the ultimate free will. Freedom means free from our controlling mind.  Being in our hearts or our God-self is the true freedom. We limit our free will by what we do.There are many forces that are trying to control us, and that is what is taking away our freedom.

The “will” of free will is our attention and intention..what we focus on. That becomes free when we control it. So for all of us control “freaks” this is something to focus our attention on…our will. To have an iron will means that we control our minds..by quieting it, and looking beneath all the advertisers and the media, (for one thing) that are trying to keep us in fear… and start living in love and compassion.

Compassion comes from  accepting things just as they are. They may not be as we like them, but they are the way they are. We need to accept the present situation. Once we are not tied up in knots about how everything should change, we might be quiet enough to hear….from our hearts….how WE can change to make the situation better.

So just look at things as are, and quiet down and listen…for the solution..or maybe just the next thing that can be done.

“Mind Control”

So why do I keep repeating myself….God is wihin us…our healing comes from within…etc??

Well, that is the first thing that one needs to really know, who and where GOD IS, and where healing comes from. Once we get that … and that’s the most challenging, everything else follows.

So let’s discuss this “mind control” thing.

First of all, our mind created our present situation. This “present” situation is really all there is, but our mind is always taking us back into our past or projecting our past into the future. It makes our present reality based on things that happened in the past. It compares things that we are going through to things that happened in the past. It makes a judgment on those things and tells us how it will turn out, and they are mostly negative. That way it can remain in control, and the present reality can stay as it is. It doesn’t want change, and it doesn’t want you to “get better,” because then you won’t need it as much. It surely doesn’t want us to realize that there is something else but it..our Divine self…which is our real Self. Once we know that we don’t need the mind, except for making plans, everyday, mundane decisions, and to keep us breathing. We will never get well until we access our True Selves.

We do that by focusing on ourselves…what do we want…what is our “calling.”  I don’t mean selfishly, like what I can get, no matter what happens to other people. It means to ask what is best for me and therefore, all of Creation. That begins to quiet the mind. Have you ever had a new idea, a new inspiration? Did that come from you thinking about it, or did it just appear? That’s our inner selves communicating with us. That’s where healing comes from.

So put the mind back where it should be, in second position. I’m not saying this is an easy task, but, as all Truth, it is very simple. Just begin to think on God. Think on Creation as everything there is. Begin to just watch ourselves think..all the thoughts, fears, guilt and shame that come bubbling up from our subconscious.  Just watch them, and then let them go. They are not yours. They are figments and they want to trap us. Just think of everything is as it should be. That will destroy mind control. Our mind traps us into thinking that it should be different. That this situation is not right..someone did us wrong….it their fault. It tells us that we did everything right, so its someone else responsibility to fix our lives. Remember we are totally responsible for where we are, and where we are going. It’s not someone, it’s us!!!!
